LaGuardia Report Cannot Find Harm From Marijuana, 1944
According to Lee A Martin’s Smoke Signals, the report could find any leads to physical, mental or moral degeneration, nor any permanent effects. It was not addictive, did not cause insanity nor sexual deviance, violence, or criminal misconduct.
The Journal of the American Medical Association retorted in 1945 with this:
“The report has already done great damage to teh cause of law enforcement. Public officials will do well to disregard this unscientific, uncritical study, and continue to regard marijuana as a menace wherever it is purveyed.”
And so the war went on…
Here’s an interesting read.
