18 Apr The Story of Weed – Part 1/3

WeedArt_v2We all know the story of Weed, AKA cannabis, marijuana, pot, the assassin of youth. In truth, that assassin is adulthood and definitely not to be confused as maturity. Her story is woven with lies, deception and conspiracy. Weed, unbeknownst to most, is the victim.

Weed was once everyone’s friend, less a threat than healer. She thrived in religions and cultures for centuries until the ‘New World’ rebranded it as a vice, used by undesirables to create antisocial psychopaths. This was the rhetoric of capitalists who saw Weed as a competitor to creating their own antisocial psychopaths. (more…)

18 Apr The Story of Weed – Part 2/3

WeedArt_v2By the time the age of marijuana prohibition kicked in, the public was well aware of Weed’s danger thanks to Reefer Madness. Smearing Weed’s good name, rumors spread about her playing into the hands of children and students. Most Americans understanding about Weed was rife with ‘racism, unwarranted consumption, lack of investigation, and an absence of science’.[1] Some things never change. (more…)

18 Apr The Story of Weed – Part 3/3

WeedArt_v2The battle escalated after Anslinger resigned from the Bureau in 1962 and moved into a bigger pond. He was appointed as a US delegate to the United Nations.[1] With his US superpower status, the anti-Weed venom spread globally.

That same year, Kennedy and the ad hoc panel on drug abuse found that most of the facts on Weed were exaggerated and based on very limited evidence.[2] With studies mounting in support of Weed’s efficacy, it naturally escalated into full-out war. Weed’s newest foe was bigger and badder than ever. At least the lies were. (more…)

16 Feb From Nightmare to Dream

We grew up being told cannabis was a hard drug , akin to cocaine or heroin. We accepted the blind truth in order to protect our children, our society. It became acceptable to be shunned or punished by our elected governments. Anyone who stood up and spoke anything but the accepted truth was quickly discredited, the scientific data showing our mistakes was ignored. Our trust, our safety, our lives were given to global corporations who feed off profit.

Lies, profit, collusion and fear feed the companies treating our illnesses, but rarely curing them. Our healing centers now host medicine-resistant germs and bacteria.

For years those who truly believe in the healing qualities of both the mind and body were silenced, but providing assistance in more subtle ways. Compassion Clubs, Health Care Workers, Children of Sick and Dying Parents, even some governments and law organizations have all refused to enforce these laws.

We are now opening our eyes to a real and tangible option for treating our illnesses. Now scientists are testing it , doctors are prescribing it, and children are living seizure free lives. Cancer patents can eat and sleep, and with less pain-killer use, countless lives are saved.

I am proud to be a part of the solution, and I salute everyone helping a loved one or patient, and the doctors risking everything to do what they think is right, and to the hero’s being punished for “Crimes” that our grandchildren will never understand.

Remove the element of harm, regulate and tax it. Create a tax base to build schools and drug treatment centers to cure the addicted. Allow developing countries to create profit off of its legal trade.

What was once a nightmare is now a Dream, Smoking ships on the horizon of change.

Authorized medical patients in Romania may now use marijuana derivatives to allay their pain under new provisions in two of the country’s narcotic laws, according to local reports.

Currently, possession of marijuana is outlawed throughout the country. Though medicinal and recreational use of the drug itself remain prohibited, derivatives of the plant can now be used to treat certain medical conditions, such as epilepsy, cancer and multiple sclerosis.

Manufacturers will also be able to apply to the National Agency for Medicines for approval to market drugs that contain marijuana by-products like resins or plant fragments.

The Czech Republic, France and the Netherlands are among the countries in the European Union that have legalized the use of medical marijuana products.

Earlier this week, Switzerland relaxed its laws governing marijuana use by decriminalizing the drug. While marijuana is still not legal, authorities will not prosecute residents caught with 10 grams or less.
